Senate Bill 514
My view is that the law already says the same thing as the bill, so voting on this seems like a big waste of government money and civilian time. Given that we are in a sinkhole of debt, the bill shouldn't even get to be voted on. Although if the law didn't exist, I would try to avoid voting in this particular matter. Parts of the bill I agree with such as that gay people could not get married here but parts I would disagree with such as the parts that go against the Constitution.

How was a young person's life in East Berlin different from yours?
They couldn't have posters on the walls of their bedrooms or really stand up for what they wanted to. They were constantly spied on by the secret police force, even more if part of their families were in West Berlin or West Germany. Their adult life, as well as their chances of getting into college, could have been sabotaged by the government.Their whole lives were documented in extensive files that the Stasi had collected. Some of them weren't allowed to walk out of their front doors without facing punishment. They had no freedom of speech or protest and they would be killed if they were caught trying to leave the country.

Some of the things that make the Berlin Wall and the Mexican-United States Border similar is that they are both actual walls, both had guards to keep people from crossing and both had people still cross despite of the guards. The things that make them different is that the Berlin Wall has been torn down, it was built to keep citizens in, and it only went across the city/state. In contrast, the Border Fence is still up, it was built to keep aliens out, and is built across the entire border between the U.S. and Mexico meaning 4 states and many cities.
